Homeowner's Insurance Problems
Please help your POA collect data about the problems with the increased cost of homeowner's insurance. We aim to gather significant data so our Florida State Government will act. We only want data for problems that have occurred since October 1, 2022.
There are three situations in a villager who owns a home in The Villages. There are two different surveys, depending on your current situation. Note that more than one survey may apply to you, especially if your roof is over 15 years old.
When you complete a survey, you will automatically be sent an email containing your inputs from Google Forms; if it is not in your in-basket, check your SPAM folder. If you review your responses and find an error, you can correct it on the form by selecting the "Edit Response" button in the email from Google Forms. After correcting and resubmitting the form, you will receive an additional email from Google Forms with your updated information.
1. If you received a notice from your insurance company that they will not renew your homeowner's insurance policy, take this short SURVEY#1.
2. If you received a letter from your insurance company stating a significant price increase, take SURVEY#2. You can take this survey before renewing with your old insurance company (or a new company), but once you make a firm decision on your insurance, please retake SURVEY#2. Accurate information from you is essential. You will need information from your latest pair of declaration forms from your homeowner's insurance provider. Below is an example of a pair of declaration forms from one provider. In this example, the needed info is circled in red.
If you have a question or comment about this webpage for the surveys, send an email to jlkpoa4us@gmail.com.
To help people find the correct information, an example of a recent pair of Homeowners Insurance declarations is shown below. In this example, the insurance company is US Costal. The "Total Policy" prices are $2208.00 and $3025.80, a 37% increase. The Dwelling Cover Limits are $321,000 and $346,500, a 7.9% increase.
