President’s Message

Welcome to the Website for the Property Owners’ Association of the Villages, Inc. (POA).

The POA was formed in 1975 and is the only advocacy group for Property Owners with no ties to the Developer of The Villages.

I have been a member of the POA Board of Directors since 2011, and am serving my fourth term as its President. It is an honor for me to serve as an officer in an organization whose only interest is helping to resolve issues that may affect the property values and rights of property owners.

Since 1975, the POA has investigated numerous issues that dealt with either faulty home products, such as defective vinyl siding and Owens Corning roof tiles, or poor workmanship, as in the recent case of cracked lanai ceilings. The POA has also challenged the Developer for actions it felt were not in the best interest of property owners. In 2008, a $40 Million settlement action for the Developer’s neglect of amenity properties north of CR 466 was the result of a POA initiated lawsuit.

You will receive our POA Bulletin in your driveway every month, FREE of charge. We have just started e-delivery as well. The Bulletin will contain information from District government meetings and help to keep you aware of issues that may affect you as a property owner. We are proud of providing an independent view, and strive to always give you accurate and complete information. We are not in the business of publishing rumors or information that cannot be substantiated. The Bulletin is always posted on this website; in fact, our archives go back to 1978! You might want to peruse them as they are a great source of history of how The Villages has grown and developed over the years, and how the POA has always stood up for residents’ rights.

We also have a monthly General Membership meeting, with speakers of interest, and we always provide a member Q & A to help address any issues you may be having. We don’t always know the answer, or there may not always be an answer, but we will do our best to help you. The meeting is open to ALL Villages residents; you do not have to be a member of the POA to attend. You will always find the speaker information for the month on the front page of the Bulletin, and we are working hard to add videos of each meeting to this website.

We hope you will consider membership with the POA. It is only $10 a year, and we believe strongly in the premise that there is “strength in numbers.” You can click on the Membership tab on this website and join online, or fill out the Membership application in the Bulletin and mail it to us.

Please feel free to contact me any time. You can email me at president@poa4us.org or call me at 352-418-7372.
